As a member of the British Acupuncture Council it is accepted that I have been trained to a certain standand, and that I must keep that up to date with continuous professional development. Being an acupuncturist isn’t solely about acupuncture. Alongside professional development we also need to be vigilant regarding the safety of those who visit our clinics. Monday was spent updating my firstaid knowledge for recertification for another 3 years. A day well spent I’d say.
Never assume a current or previous nurse is a good first-aider, sure didn’t we always have folk and technology right beside us. First-aid courses are designed for everyone no matter what they do or have done. Each time I do one I learn something new and refresh the old stuff I knew, plus get to practice my CPR skills. Alex Brazkiewicz from Holos Healthcare and Training was our knowledgeable trainer for the day. What he doesn’t know about first -aid could be written on a postage stamp, he has a wealth of experience which he readily shares. So not only did we learn but we had fun doing it, as he keeps everything upbeat.
The venue, was amazing. It was in the clinic of The Healing Space not only was the clinic itself just lovely and calm it’s set on the grounds of a convent, think green, lush and quiet. Honestly folk of Twyford, Reading and beyond its a place not to be missed. I wish it was nearer I’d be hanging out there for sure.
Far left, is practicing CPR. Immediate left is the room where clients receive acupuncture, the distorted light at the top of the photo is sunlight coming through to bathe the room. The other photo’s are little area’s of niceness adding detail in the large main room/waiting room.
The other bonus of the day was having a wee get together with my college acupuncture buddies, very nice indeed.
