Following on from day 22 when the goings on of an initial consultation were discussed. Today the focus is on treatment plan, point prescription and overall follow up management.
It is all about balance. Acupuncture is an energetic medicine which regulates excesses and deficiencies to maintain a state of balance in the body.
So, when we talk of treatment plan these are some of the things we do
Choosing acupuncture points for YOU, we have many options in putting together a prescription of points.
This is not an exhaustive list, but gives you an idea of the many options we have and that is not even touching on auricular (ear) acupuncture or micro-system acupuncture.
So how often and for how long should somebody attend for treatment?
Hmmm, sorry but there is not one single simple answer to this. The frequency essentially could be daily to weekly to fortnightly or monthly depending on the acuteness of the situation. In clinics in China daily treatments are often prescribed, though this is not so common over here. In the U.K. weekly or twice weekly seems to be the norm.
It really cannot be stressed enough that a course of treatment is the norm.
The length of time it takes for a problem/condition to resolve is dependent on many issues. If the condition has been entrenched for months or years it is fair to say it will take longer than something which has only occurred in recent weeks.
Each individual responds differently to the effect of acupuncture so it is a case of observing for changes (these may be subtle or massive) and continuously reviewing response to treatment. If we are not evoking the change we expect then we adjust treatment accordingly.
Obviously it is not possible to cover every issue here, so if you have any questions or concerns do feel free to email or phone us and we will do our best to address them.
