Does anyone else feel like they need a burst or blast of colour?
I know, I know its only early November but my oh my doesn’t it feel a bit dull and dark. Perhaps because October was just so bright and ablaze with autumnal colours that we are now left feeling as if someone has switched off the lights.
Colour features quite a lot in Traditional Chinese medicine dating as far back as the Nei Ching. Close observation of natural occurrences led the assignment of colour to each organ/element energy. Understanding these colours can aid our diagnosis.
Currently we are in the Metal phase of a yearly cycle, this Metal phase resonates with the colour white. Water phase is winter and is the colour black or navy blue, Spring is the Wood phase and green is the colour. Summer is the Fire phase and red is the colour. Earth phase is yellow.
Experienced acupuncturists and herbalists are quite a dab hand at observing hues of these colours on clients faces. These colours may indicate tell tale signs that something is going on relative to the organ which corresponds to the colour. Or indeed it may be that a client turns up dressed from top to toe in one of these colours. Either way having an understanding of colour to internal organs is another tool in our Traditional Chinese medicine kit which we can use.
Next time you are looking in the mirror, check it out to see if you can see any hues of these colours.
